Sacred Altar of Sacrifice Dedicated at Renovated St. John Vianney Catholic Church

Sanctuary view

On Saturday, March 25th, St. John Vianney Catholic Church in Houston, TX, celebrated the dedication of their Altar of Sacrifice within their newly renovated church. Liturgical Designer Rolf Rohn, who meticulously developed and executed the liturgical design plan in alignment with Father Troy Gately’s vision, was present to witness the congregation's heartfelt reactions as they participated in the blessed event.

A standout feature of the project is the state-of-the-art green lighting system designed by Rolf to enhance both the spiritual and functional aspects of the environment. Parishioners were awestruck by the extraordinary illumination of the sanctuary, nave, and sacred art when the lights were activated upon completion of the dedication. The beauty of the environment was fully realized, eliciting Rolf a standing ovation. Father Gately also acknowledged the significant contributions of Liturgical Interior Designer Kathy Maglicco and Graphic Designer Maria Hubbard for their collaborative efforts on the design.

Cardinal DiNardo Blessing of the Altar

The organists and choirs of St. John Vianney accompanied the Ministers of the Liturgy during a Mass that featured the Rite and Dedication of the Altar. This included the Depositing of the Relics from St. Lawrence, St. Lucy, St. Francis of Assisi, St. Maria Goretti, St. Gerard Majella, and St. John Vianney; the Prayer of Dedication, recalling the altars built by Abraham, Noah, and Moses to offer sacrifice and praise to God; the Anointing of the Altar, symbolizing the altar as a representation of Christ; the Incensation of the Altar, where incense signifies the mysterious sacrifice of Christ; and the Adornment and Lighting of the Altar, teaching that Christ's light shines upon the Church and the entire human family.

We extend our deepest appreciation to the St. John Vianney Building and Design and Continuing the Vision Capital Campaign Committees, Pete Prados for his instrumental coordination with the parish, and countless others who tirelessly worked to achieve this renewed vision. Thank you for allowing us to be part of this remarkable journey.
