Bringing St. Paul’s Journey to Life: New Liturgical Art and Liturgical Murals at Divine Mercy Parish
Two new Catholic liturgical art murals are taking shape at the renovated Divine Mercy Parish in Blackstone, MA, offering a powerful visual journey through the life of St. Paul. Designed by Rohn Catholic artists, these small color renderings preview the large-scale liturgical art and church murals that will soon enhance the parish's worship space. Together, they strengthen the faith of parishioners and complement the recently installed altar mural and side shrine murals. When completed, each painting will measure 12' x 12', creating a striking and immersive presence in the sacred interior.
In the first mural, Saul’s dramatic encounter on the road to Damascus comes to life. Once a fierce persecutor of Christians, he is struck down in a flash of divine light, hearing the words, "Saul, Saul, why do you persecute me?" This transformative moment marks the beginning of his journey as St. Paul, one of the Church’s greatest evangelists, and is rendered through Catholic sacred art and liturgical murals that invite parishioners to witness his conversion and reflect on faith in action.
The second mural transports viewers to Paul’s final days in a Roman prison, where he is visited by Timothy. Together, they write portions of the New Testament letters even as Paul awaits execution under Emperor Nero. This powerful scene, depicted through liturgical art and parish murals, highlights Paul’s unwavering faith and dedication to Christ’s message, inspiring parishioners and deepening their connection to Church history.
This liturgical art is a catechesis in color, inviting parishioners to reflect on conversion, mission, and faith. The artists are carefully attending to every detail to fulfill the parish leadership’s vision. Check back to see the completed murals celebrate St. Paul’s story and strengthen the identity of the new parish community.
