Pittsburgh Business Leader Receives Lifetime Achievement Award for Sacred Art and Liturgical Design

A lifetime achievement award recognizes an individual whose contributions have profoundly shaped their field, setting them apart as a leader and innovator. Liturgical designer Rolf Rohn embodies this distinction, dedicating nearly every day to crafting church environments that truly reflect the domus Dei—a house of God. With meticulous attention to liturgical correctness and harmony, his work stands as a lasting testament to the faith and devotion of communities around the world.

Rolf was recently celebrated by his alma mater, the South Hills High School Alumnae Association, at their 55th Annual Hall of Fame Dinner Dance on Saturday, April 29, in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. The only member of the class of 1964 to receive this prestigious honor, Rolf was recognized for more than 50 years of devoted service to the Catholic Church. Over his career, he has contributed to the design and restoration of more than 2,500 churches, chapels, cathedrals, and basilicas across the United States and Europe. The nominating committee, after careful review, deemed his lifelong contributions truly deserving of this distinction.

Rolf attended the event with his sister, artist Renate Rohn, the only person he had told about the honor. She reflected, “He has always been this way; the only thing that impresses him are perfect liturgical environments.” Together, Rolf and Renate continue the legacy of their late father, the gifted liturgical artist Rudolph N. Rohn, who founded the family company in 1952 and worked on hundreds of churches in Pittsburgh and the surrounding states.
