Our Custom Studio was deeply honored to design and fabricate the new Carrara marble furniture, featuring carefully crafted mosaic inserts, alongside the crucifix that enhances the distinctive liturgical space of the Church of the Incarnation in Rio Rancho, NM.
The Roman-style corpus and cross were created through a collaborative effort: Graphic Designer Maria Hubbard led the design under the guidance of Liturgical Designer Rolf Rohn and the Pastor. The corpus itself is the meticulous work of skilled Italian woodcarvers, while the cross was crafted by a talented local artisan. Measuring 7’6” tall, 6’ wide, and 8” deep, the wood-carved body of Christ was rendered in perfect proportion to the cross with exquisite detail, refined through two small-scale models to ensure precision. Rolf also contributed resources toward the corpus’ development and provided a life-size printed design for fundraising, helping parishioners visualize and support the final crucifix.
Together, the furniture, mosaics, and crucifix unite to create a harmonious environment where sacred art and craftsmanship invite prayer and reflection. This sacred work invites all who enter to contemplate the profound mystery of Christ’s sacrifice and love. Through beauty and craftsmanship, the crucifix becomes not only a focal point of worship but also a tangible reminder of grace made visible, drawing hearts closer to the divine presence.
