During a beautiful liturgy on August 29th, 2009, we celebrated the dedication of the newly constructed St. Paul the Apostle Catholic Church in Nassau Bay, Texas. The inspirational Father Albert Maullon, Pastor, and His Eminence Cardinal Daniel DiNardo of the Archdiocese of Galveston-Houston led the dedication. Among the priests from the Archdiocese in attendance were Father Cyriacus Onyejegbu and Father Maullon. Cardinal DiNardo prayed during the dedication, "Lord, fill this place with your presence, extend your hand to all who call upon you. May your word be proclaimed here, and your sacraments celebrated; strengthen the hearts of all the faithful."
Located just outside NASA's Johnson Space Center, St. Paul the Apostle embraced the theme, "The Heavens Declare the Glory of God," throughout its construction. Drawing inspiration from this theme, the Rohn Team designed a comprehensive liturgical and artistic environment for this vibrant parish, encompassing sacred art, art glass, flooring, liturgical furniture, appointments, and spatial arrangements. They meticulously coordinated architectural and functional details, incorporating unexpected elements such as stained glass windows depicting the Orion and Omega Swan Nebulae. This distinction makes it the first Catholic church to integrate actual space imagery.
For all of us at Rohn Design, dedicating a new church is a deeply cherished moment, marking the culmination of a rewarding spiritual journey.
